Visitor Services and Events
Visitor Services Volunteers provide museum guests with a positive first impression and best possible experience during their visit to MMAA’s Project Space. In this highly visible position, volunteers oversee all aspects of the museum visitor experience, including security of the exhibition objects and environment during both museum public hours and special events.
Administrative Volunteers assist staff with a wide array of projects, from filing and phone calls to social media and organizational research. Commitments can be made for a regular, ongoing schedule or for a particular project, depending on volunteer interests and talents, as well as office needs.
Collections Volunteers are essential in attending to the needs of the 4,000 works in MMAA’s collection, assisting with object handling, storage, condition monitoring, and digitization. Opportunities also exist for archival and research projects, as determined by the Collections Manager and Executive Director.
Curatorial Volunteers work closely with MMAA’s Curator of Engagement, assisting with all aspects of exhibitions, including program planning, implementation, and logistics, as well as curatorial research. Opportunities also occasionally arise in other areas, depending on the specific exhibition.
