Leslie Barlow on Images and Social Change
Saturday, April 8, 1 p.m.
Minnesota Museum of American Art
Artist Leslie Barlow will host an informal public gathering to talk about the relationship of images to social change.
Leslie Barlow is a practicing artist living and working in Minneapolis, MN. Primarily an oil painter, Barlow’s current work employs the figure and narrative elements to explore issues of multiculturalism, “otherness,” representation, and identity. Barlow received her BFA in 2011 from the University of Wisconsin- Stout and her MFA in 2016 from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Barlow actively exhibits her work throughout the United States and many of her pieces can be found in private and public collections. In addition to her studio practice, Barlow currently works as an Assistant Instructor at Juxtaposition Arts, as the administrative assistant for Northern Lights.mn, and is a board member of the Minneapolis Art Lending Library.
This conversation is related to the M’s ongoing exhibit, Ken Gonzales-Day: Shadowlands, on view through April 16, 2017. This program is free and open to the public.
The exhibition and its related programming are supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Minnesota State Arts Board, and the City of St. Paul’s Cultural STAR program.
