Minnesota artist Marc Norberg’s photographs of iconic blues musicians
The M is partnering with the Show Gallery Lowertown and Lowertown Blues and Funk Fest to present a pop-up exhibition sampling the museum’s collection of Marc Norberg‘s arresting black-and-white portraits of iconic blues musicians. (These photos were originally published in a book by the same title published in 1995.)
In addition to the exhibition, there will be live music performances at the Show Gallery daily during the Lowertown Blues Fest. In the gallery, you’ll also hear audio of the performers whose portraits you’ll see on the wall, from a recording made to accompany the book in which these photographs originally appeared. The exhibition and related programs are all free and open to the public.
This event is part of The M Off-Site series of programs happening throughout the Twin Cities, while the M is closed for construction of its new facility.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
