City Pages Names Shadowlands “Best Museum Exhibition” of 2017

Hot off the press: the M garnered a spot in City Pages 2017 “Best of the Year” issue. Last year, the alt weekly picked Minnesota Museum of American Art as 2016’s “Best Museum.” And this year, Shadowlands, the M’s critically acclaimed show by California-based artist Ken Gonzales-Day, was named “Best Museum Exhibition” of the year. City Pages notes the timeliness of the work, saying: “By digitally altering photographs, he erased lynching victims, shifting the focus of those gruesome scenes to the crowd watching the horrific spectacle. … In all, it was a compelling and thought-provoking exhibition.”
