Figure Drawing

Saturdays, February 8, 15 & 22, 1- 4 p.m.
Cost: $100 ($80 for M members)
This is a three-part class * Ages 18+

In this workshop with teaching artist AK Garski you will learn to draw the human figure from direct observation of a nude life model. You will explore various drawing materials and techniques including contour, gesture, and schematic drawing. During these workshops you will receive hands on demonstrations as well as one-on-one instruction while you draw. All experience levels are welcome.

AK Garski

Teaching artist AK Garski (they/them/theirs) is a nonbinary visual artist who specializes in observational drawing and figurative painting in charcoal, watercolor, ink, and oil paint. They received their BA in Studio Art and Women’s Studies from St. Catherine University and earned their MFA in Painting, along with an MA in History and Theory of Contemporary Art, from San Francisco Art Institute. Garski was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant in 2019. They are currently an adjunct instructor in the Department of Art and Art History at St. Catherine University.

As an educator, Garski particularly enjoys teaching figurative drawing and painting with an emphasis on examining how stereotypes and biases impact our perception of our own bodies and the bodies of others.
