Get a sneak peek at our spring exhibition at a members-only preview.
Your ticket includes a free “craft” cocktail (get it?). Enjoy a cash bar, small bites by CRAVE, and live music with your early look at the M’s spring exhibition, co-presented with the American Craft Council, The Good Making of Good Things: Craft Horizons Magazine, 1941 – 1979. Hear remarks from the curatorial team behind the show at 6 p.m.
During its nearly 40 years in print, Craft Horizons documented the American craft movement, as it happened. With original imagery, selected articles, and important works of fine craft from Minnesota Museum of American Art’s collection, The Good Making of Good Things provides audiences with a rich, firsthand account of the history of craft in America, as well as a contemporary selection of makers pushing the field forward today. Featured local and national artists include Anni Albers, Alix and Warren MacKenzie, Tetsuya Yamada, and many more. This nationally touring exhibition is adapted for the M and curated by the 2017 Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design Curatorial Fellows, Elizabeth Essner, Lily Kane, and Meaghan Roddy.
