presents
Latine Poetry at the M
With Minnesota poets Jessica Lopez Lyman, Larry Lucio, and Dougie Padilla and Xavier Tavera reading the poetry of Luis Alberto Urrea.
This event is a part of the M’s ongoing Poetry Series.
January 12, 2025, 2-3 pm
350 Robert Street North, St. Paul, MN 55101
This event is part of the ongoing Minnesota Museum of American Art exhibition “Hilo de la Sangre (Thread of the Blood)”. The exhibit, curated by Xavier Tavera and Dougie Padilla, brings together fifteen Latine visual artists from across the diaspora, from Chile to Mexico, from California and Texas, to Minnesota, to consider the significance of blood as a material foundation of life, a carrier of complex lineages, a signal of violence and death, and a cultural and spiritual symbol of sacrifice and atonement.
This reading will be primarily in English, but will move into Spanish for some poems.
