Third Place Gallery | 3730 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis, MN
Poet Sun Yung Shin and artists Witt Siasoco and Mike Hoyt on process and place.
Join us for a conversation about the intersection of creative practice, place, and community in the lives and work of artists. Tonight’s speakers come to their conversation as working artists. They’ll speak to the notion of art as a verb – an activity that breathes, that is always in process – rather than as a noun. They’ll also discuss what it means to inhabit the identity of “artist” as a community member surrounded by others, and other obligations.
This event, copresented by Third Place Gallery and the Minnesota Museum of American Art (the M), is part of The M Off-Site series of programs happening throughout the Twin Cities, while the M is closed for construction of its new facility opening in 2018.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
