We the People on KFAI’s “Catalyst: Politics & Culture”
Johnnay Leenay, Minnesota Museum of American Art (the M) Diversity in the Arts fellow and one of the guest curators for the museum’s current exhibition, We the People, sat down with KFAI’s Lydia Howell, Christopher Atkins (Curator of Exhibitions and Public Programs) and Jessica Eckerstorfer (the M’s Arts Access Manager) to talk about her selections of work for the M’s timely new show. The group discuss the nuances of accessibility and opening our cultural spaces to Minnesota’s diverse communities, as well as the still-relevant themes of the exhibition itself, its context in the M’s broader mission and history, plus a bit about what visitors will see with some of the other guest curators’ picks.
This episode of “Catalyst” begins with a segment on budget cuts and public housing in Minneapolis. The conversation about We the People is in the second half of the show, beginning at the 37 minute-mark in the audio stream.
